how to prevent heartburn?

Im on medication for heartburn. I tried protonix and the purple pill. They do work, but once out runt i, my heartburn is back. I know that eating yogurt also works for me. if you have heartburn, how do u control it? my doctor told me that I could have the disease for heartburn good, all he can do is prescribe me some pills and diet.

Do not drink one hour before eating and after an hour.
