Any helpful ideas on how to get rid of pregnancy heartburn???

Hi ladies. Im 23 weeks pregnant & Im miserable with daily-killer-annoying heartburn. It seems that anything I eat or drink causes it. I take Tums & it works for a few minutes then its back again. Im desperate for any home remedies or anything that has worked for you. Please help! Thanks ;)

Oh boy did you bring back memories of former dragon. I suffered acid reflux through four pregnancys, so I can sympathize. I found the most helpful thing to be the liquid antacids, actually. My favorite was Mylanta Supreme with Calcium, in the Creme Cherry flavor. I had dozens of bottles stashed all over the place, every room of the house, in the car, and in my purse. I kept a bottle in the refrigerator because it always felt so good going down ice cold. I swear sometimes you could hear the sizzle when it hit the fire in my stomach. My husband got me a very firm wedge pillow for sleeping and sitting on the couch, which also helped. I also found that it helped to graze rather than eat anything like a regular sized meal. I’m on the short side of things, and my reflux was due to the baby pressing my stomach upwards, so things just gradually got worse until the babies dropped prior to delivery. At that point I could eat like a horse, and the heartburn was radically less. Since the source of trouble was the baby, not the food, it really didn’t matter what I ate to tell you the truth. I had heartburn with just about everything I ate. Things also reached a point where each baby could roll over or kick and relieve me of my lunch with no warning, and the liquid Mylanta was the only thing that helped put out the fire afterwards. After everyone telling me that heartburn meant hair, I expected baby gorillas instead of humans, but each time I had a baby with a fuzz covered cueball of a head- no hair to speak of. Guess the heartburn toasted it off! Anyway, the only things that ever helped were the liquid Mylanta, and grazing, and the wedge pillow. Just don’t ever lay flat, that’s an invite to trouble. Just find your favorite flavor of liquid, and buy it by the case. At least it contains calcium, so you both have strong bones. My sympathies, dear- and it should improve after the baby drops. Then you can eat to make up for the lost time.

You’d have thought that Nora Ephron and Mike Nichols had remade Heaven’s Gate: that was the critical reaction to this film version of Ephron’s semiautobiographical novel about her own marital woes. The fact that they had Jack Nicholson and Meryl Streep playing thinly disguised versions of Carl Bernstein and Ephron probably made them bigger, fatter targets. In fact, the film was a genuinely funny a…
