Living With Chronic Heartburn

Healing foods to eat with a bleeding ulcer?
2 days ago I experienced heart burn like NEVER before, pain and burning like no other and I am a chronic heartburn sufferer. It was so bad it made me vomit several times and there was blood (about a cups worth came up) in the vomit. I was so freaked out and scared, I am also now having heartburn (controlled by Zantac 150) and having dark (basically BLACK) stools.
What are good choices of foods to eat while I’m trying to heal myself?
So far I am living off of tons of water and saltine crackers and bread. I was thinking maybe some mashed potatoes? Please post the best foods to eat while suffering with this terrible and painful problem.
Milk is a great drink for you, water is also good. I like your potatoes idea – pasta would also be good.
Avoid fruit, soft drinks and over-large meals. DO eat normally, several small meals a day. If you stop eating the ulcer will be irritated by the acid even more.
Zantac is not the best drug for you, though it is quite cheap. There are stronger ones available – ask your doctor about PPI’s if the Zantac isn’t strong enough.
Don’t drink alcohol or smoke.
