How Can You Treat Heartburn

Could I have a hiatial hernia?
Okay, so I’m 19 years old and relatively healthy. I used to binge drink almost EVERY day, and I’m 5’11″, and only 140 lbs. So ever since like, 5 months ago, I have heartburn EVERY DAY. Even if I eat nothing, I’ll still have heartburn, and it just seems to be getting worse. How can you tell if you actually have a hiatial hernia, or if it’s just really bad heartburn? Oh yeah, I also get palpitations whenever my heartburn gets REALLY bad. Please help! What medicines treat hiatial hernia’s?
it could be GERD (gastroesophegeal reflux disease), but as far as meds for hiatal hernia, I think that surgical repair is a big consideration, you need to talk with a doctor so they can do an upper GI series if necessary.
