Heartburn Meds

How long does heartburn med Dexilant take to kick in?
I need to know by tomorrow if I’m going to continue taking this medication. It was prescribed to treat thorax congestion. For two days however it hasn’t worked, and has been giving me side effects including some heartburn. Any experience with this drug would be very helpful.
I would contact your doctor and explain this side effect, as it is doing the opposite of what it should be doing for you. The half life of the drug is 1 to 2 hours and has another peak 5 to 6 hours later in the blood. It is eliminated by the next day so if you haven’t had any benefit from the med yet, the doctor will most likely want to know and give you something new.
