Heartburn Enough Acid
![]()
Is it true that your stomach acid can burn the stomach if you don’t eat anything?
Is it true that stomach will produce more acid if you don’t eat, and damage the stomach/intestine lining when there is no food to absorb the acid? I haven’t eaten much lately because of heartburn and food regurgitation, and it seems like the less I eat the worse the burning gets in my stomach (not my chest). My friend is suggesting that it’s because I don’t have enough food in my stomach.. is this true? Thanks for the help!
Yes its true (but not true, I’ll explain) Its called ulcers. I have an ulcer, because I have GERD. If you already have heartburn and its chronic (more than 1 day a week you get it), than you may have GERD, which can lead to the burning of your stomach or ulcers. Because I have GERD, it means my stomach produces alot of acid (like acid reflux). Certain foods lower that acid and certain foods increase that acid. For example, I can’t have soda, or the acid will really react. This is why your statement is both wrong and true. It’s not because your stomach is empty, but when it’s empty of certain foods that reduce acid, than your acid will be alot worse, which can cause ulcers or a burning of your stomach. So it may not be that its because your stomach is empty, but maybe more so that its empty of anything to counter the acidic foods and maybe the acid from those foods is all thats left in your stomach, so without anything to block it or counter it, it burns your stomach.
