Heartburn Baking Soda

IS IT SAFE TO USE BAKING SODA FOR HEARTBURN IN PREGNANCY?
I have been suffering with heartburn through my pregnancy. The only thing that brings me relief is baking soda, however I can not get any straight answers as to whether it is safe to use in pregnancy. Can someone give me any advise?
I used it all the time, so did my sister, mother and aunts. I only needed to use it before bed, that way I would get relief and sleep. My OB was aware I was using the baking soda and told me it was fine. Many prescription and over the counter acid reducers have side affects and risks that baking soda doesn’t have. If you are still worried ask your OB.
Baking soda does contain sodium, which can cause you to retain water. Drinking extra water will reduce this side affect.
