Caffeine Heartburn

What can a person drink (in addition to milk and water) that will not give you heartburn?

My husband has heartburn Tagamet and takes in a generic Rx, twice a day. His stomach is still bad enough that he wakes up several times during the night. I thought of it as its consumption of alcohol as a 6 pack of pop / soda every day is what is behind. Caffeine is not important, but I guess he likes sugar. What can he who does not drink caffeine in it, besides water and milk? He said he do not like Kool-aid.

Try some herbal teas. Sugar is bad for you anyway. Try to live wthout it now to facilitate future.
